The Kumu peoples reside near the Lengola, Ituri, Mbaka, and Lega ethnic groups in the Maniema Province. They create masks and other artifacts that are dramatic and geometrically abstract in nature.

The Nsembu Divination Society use masks of this type (shown here) for initiation rites in the village of Lembelembe.
